Calibrated levels are used in a wide range of applications and are built in a variety of forms to suit usage within those applications. Traditional mechanical levels utilize an air bubble floating within a substance (usually a mineral spirit) inside a vial which is attached to a flat surface. Reference marks on the vial represent the point at which the level surface is within an allowable tolerance.
